Mother’s Day In Western N.C.

Monday, May 14th, 2007

I rode up to Hendersonville again on Friday to meet some family members for a Mother’s Day gathering. I took Hwy 176, a nice road and it gets really interesting above Tryon N.C. Saturday was spent on the Blue Ridge Parkway (with a slight detour down 276 to the Blue Ridge Motorcycle Campground and back up to the Parkway).

Somewhere along the parkway

I rode the BRP starting from Pisgah Forest to Little Switzerland and then on up to the Lynn Cove Viaduct. Then I headed for Hendersonville back down the parkway.

A foggy BRP

Well what use to be an annual trip to the Georgia Mountain BMW rally in Hiawassee GA, has turned into an annual trip to Hendersonvlle N.C. The rally is still a nice ride from H’ville and there are plenty of great roads in the area. The Blue Ridge Parkway is about 30 minutes away, or longer, if I take the more scenic but, longer route. :)

Visibility ZERO

Friday and Saturday were overcast and rainy. On Saturday, we did our mandatory visit to the Smokehouse restaurant in Cashiers N.C, for a great burger and fries. They also serve great ribs too! On Sunday we rode to Maggie Valley on Hwy 276, had lunch and rode the BRP home. Here is a picture of the parkway Sunday morning:

Here is another shot from Sunday, just a few hours later:
