October In Western N.C.

Monday, October 24th, 2005

We spent four days in Western N.C. I rode the FZ6 up and my wife drove the (new to us) Miata. Friday we drove the Miata up the BRP to Little Switzerland and went to a great used book shop there. We try to get there at least once a year. The Miata was a fun ride up the BRP (The Miata was made for this type of road) with the top down and the temperature in the low to mid 60s.

The FZ6 was ridden one day out of the four as we were having too much fun with the Miata. Oh well, when you get a new toy, you just have to play with it! :-)

Another Method of Sport Touring

Wednesday, October 12th, 2005

We spent two years of looking for a more sport oriented car, one with a manual gearbox and either RWD or rear engine. On the short list was the Corvair Corsa, Toyota MR2, Pontiac Fiero GT and the Mazda Miata. We finally narrowed it down to the Miata. The Corvair was eliminated as most did not have AC and this would be my wife’s daily driver. I could not find any good examples of the MR2 or the Fiero for sale. We then spent two to three weeks of looking for a Miata, We started looking at 1999 models and up, but, none were found at a reasonable price or that had not been wrecked. Then I found two 1995 models for sale and I bought one of them, a red one. red Miata. Now I can’t wait to get this on the mountain roads of N.C.
