After second thought, it would be an extra step to remove the wheel off the tire changer to balance it.  I always save the balancing step for near last (before I set the bead).

So what you're saying is you're lazy. Balance the wheel once. You do realize that most tire manufacturers put a balance dot on the tire.

As God as my witness, I wasn't able to find one on the Anakee 3.  I assumed it was the UPC sticker.  That didn't work.

Michelin doesn't believe in balance dots.
Then you're ripped right out of the ground like a fucking root.  No, you simply cannot hide from the ugly truth.

I installed the power cable for my new gps. They've got this box and choke midway along the cable. WTF is it for?
The choke I can understand, it cuts electrical noise but the box?

Ride safe!

Michelin doesn't believe in balance dots.

Stock wheels are much further out of balance than the majority of Michelins I've mounted. I keep a set of weights on the wheel to correct it's imbalance, and add marked weights to balance the tire if necessary. Many times no added weights are needed especially for fronts.

Because if you just balance your rim you'll find no real need to balance a Michelin tire mounted to a balance rim.

If it weren't for the therapeutic properties of the occasional off-camber decreasing radius downhill right-hander I'd almost certainly go completely sane.

^  Now that's a naked bike!

So what you're saying is you're lazy. Balance the wheel once. You do realize that most tire manufacturers put a balance dot on the tire.

I suppose I never bought into the fact that only a wheel needs balanced and not the tire.  I've tried that once before and the next tire I installed was cupped after some miles on it which tells me there was an out-of-balance wheel after I mounted the tire.

I'll try it again but next time, after I balance just the wheel, I'll test the tire and wheel on the balancer before installing it back on the bike.

That's a good thought to balance the wheel then mount the tire. Don't see as many balance dots on new radials, but still seeing them on bias ply.

Slow progress on the Ninja 250 Cafe racer. While I have the valve cover off today to check valves, primed & painted cover and a few other pieces.

I picked up some weights today and mounted the new front tire.  This time, I did balance the wheel after removing the old tire.  Once I mounted the new tire, I double checked the balance and no change to the weights was needed.

I also ordered a pair of PIAA 1100 LED lights and a bracket to add to the GS.  That will be a future small project.

Like that idea. Have a couple rear tires that need to be changed, will try it out soon.

I'm old school so I may have used old terminology for what is already in front of us. There is a dot on the sidewall of all tires that tells us where we align with the stem. Ask yourself; why do they want us to mount the tire with the dot aligned with the stem? Modern tires are absolutely amazing. And the manufacturing process is amazing as well. They have already given us a leg up on balancing.

I'm not saying a minor adjustment won't be needed after the tire is mounted. I'm just saying the monster weights are more for the wheel than the tire.
