It was a buzzkill for me, too.  If the bike had lived up to its looks I'd have bought it.

Here's the kicker.
Later in the afternoon I did take a ride to the BMW dealer and sat on a 2014 S1000R, matte blue in color and equipped like yours.
Tons of room, cruise, shifter, heated grips, TC, ABS and other goodies.

That's when I thought, miles was right.

I tested it with a multi-meter and have power to the socket just no light. Weirdly enough, when I moved the cable around I got brief light with no apparent reason behind it.

I traced it back to the plug and when wiggling it around and making sure all the ends were seated, I was getting periodic light but couldn't match it with what I was doing.

Turns out there's another plug below it that seems to be causing the problem. Wiggling it around consistently causes the light to go on and off plus when it's held right, the high beam comes on.

Time to get the schematics from the book and see WFT that plug is for (it goes to the dash apparently).
