Even though his results were dismal I think MM is getting back to his old self. while upright he was impressive.
I agree. His head is back to his old fearless self, he just doesn't know where the bike limit is, yet.

Did you see the shot of him almost weeping back in the garage? I think it's hitting home to him that he can't go back to his old ways.

Two long lap penalties, shredded rain tires, and an ear to ear grin at the end of the race! Great job ********* !

Really not too much to say.
RIP Jason Dupasquier - it is a cruel sport.
I really admire these guys putting on their helmets and still riding to almost the limit.
Protip: Don't tailgate coming into the grid area....

I watched the race late last night. Hard to comprehend this sport sometimes. Wonder what goes through a pro-rider's head. RIP

So now we have wardrobe malfunctions in MotoGP?
Silly season indeed.

Zarco continues to impress with consistency. It will be an interesting summer break as I assume Rossi will retire (opens a seat) plus he is starting a new team (two new seats), and Gresini will be a separate team from factory Aprilia (two more seats). And one of the seats in Tech 3 looks up for grabs (Remi Gardner gets the other one). I hope that Morbidelli gets a 2022 spec bike next season. Will Dovi find a ride somewhere?

What happened exactly? I heard his airbag suit inflated?

He said nothing about his airbag suit inflating during an interview. So not clear to me what happened.

Still "King of the Ring". I really didn't expect it.

pretty impressive. I think we know how the second half of the season will go.

Not so sure. Too many stop and go right-handers coming up.

I suspect Marc will continue to improve and get more consistent. I don't think he will dominate this year, but he has nothing to lose, so he can go all in every race. Everyone is so fast this year. Crazy how tight the times are. Like last year, I think there will be lots of different winners. Consistently finishing on the box with a 5th/6th being a bad day at the office will be what it takes to win the championship. I am rooting for Zarco to get his first win and continue to fight at the sharp end. I'd like to see him do well after his near career-ending split from KTM.

This. If there was one single track in the whole calendar that was absolutely the most likely to give Marky Mark a win, it was the Sachsenring. Every other track will not favor him as strongly.

True, but the combination of getting his confidence back and the summer break for more healing time on the arm will, in my opinion, lead to him being on the podium more times than not. His old self? absolutely not, but then close his his old self still outperforms most of the field. but, we shall see.

Bombshell... Vinales to leave Yamaha factory team at the end of the season (a year early). Aprilia are interested. Silly season will kick into high gear over the summer break. Who gets the Yamaha factory seat in 2022? Morbidelli seems to have earned it IMO. Rossi likely to retire, that leaves another Yamaha ride open. Dovi's shot at the Aprilia seat may be gone by waiting too long to commit. Could Gerloff get Morbidelli's ride if he moves to the factory team? The poobahs want an American in MotoGP. Roberts hasn't lit the world on fire in Moto2 this season and Beaubier is barely in the points. It'll be something to watch while waiting for racing to resume...

I wonder if Vinales thought he would end up being top gun (no pun intended) at factory Yamaha and is frustrated he can't seem to compete with Quatararo? This is similar to F1 when Daniel Ricciardo left successful Red Bull because he could not live with the young phenom, Max Verstappen, out driving him.
To your point, Garry, it will be interested on who gets the seat. There is a push to have a U.S. rider in the mix. Unfortunately, Beaubier and Roberts just don't seem quite at the level as the rest of the field in Moto2.

Gerloff beat five other riders in his GP debut, with zero testing on a track he'd never ridden before.
I'd like to see him get the available Petronas seat alongside Acosta.

He finished ahead of Marini and was lapping at the same (slow end of the field) pace on his first dry weekend on a two year old MotoGP bike on a track he'd never ridden. I was impressed. If a Petronas seat is open, I'd like to see him get it as well. I think he will have a good 2nd half of the season in WSBK if he can calm down a little.

It looks as if it's official- Frankie gets Maverick's seat.
That leaves two empty spots at Petronas...

Vinales suspended by Yamaha for "irregular" operation of the motorcycle during the last race (i.e. claiming he tried to break it). I suspect he's toast for the rest of the season.

Apparently he ran the bike to redline and held it there on the straights on the last few laps rather than shifting into the correct gear.
A perfect example of the old saying "Play stupid games, win stupid prizes."

For MV12 $$$, Aprilia could get AD04 in the seat. I think things would be better for them with Dovi.
I would like to see CC35 finish the season on the Yamaha factory bike after FM21 gets back to Petronis, and then takes the factory seat next year.
