So I finally got a dirt bike. My first ever.
« on: February 22, 2021, 10:02:54 PM »
After many, many years of riding, I figured it was time to try out dirt bikes. Some of you may remember my two dirt ride reports when I borrowed Lawn Dart's Yamaha WR250R.

So anyhow, I found a great deal on a really clean used Yamaha YZ450F.  It's nicely set up. I expect I'll have a lot of fun on this thing.

There's one accessory that will almost certainly be added to the ownership experience of that bike...

OMG WANT.

I'll trade you two XL175's and two CBR1100XX engines plus $1000 cash, a tabby cat and a live squirrel.  I just need a couple minutes.

That is one sweet looking modified YZ.  What will you do to convert it for off-road riding? Or, do you just plan to hoon on it over tarmac?

So I took it to the track for the first time the other day. Sadly the trackside photographer is really terrible and this is in fact the best action shot he got of me:

The bike isn't street legal, so all riding I ever do on it will be offroad. Probably.

Funny lookin' dirt bike.
If it weren't for the therapeutic properties of the occasional off-camber decreasing radius downhill right-hander I'd almost certainly go completely sane.
