New glove time
« on: August 06, 2020, 09:13:47 AM »
Ugh.  Yesterday, I saw that my Held classic Steves have a hole in the thumb.  Many sads.  So begins the shopping experience.  There are so many.  What do you wear that you would strongly recommend?  I'm kind of in love with the Helds but I'm not in love with the price if there's something out there that's as comfortable but more affordable.

I have a pair of MotoGP branded gloves (not sure who makes them) that seem to be almost as good as the Held's at 1/5 the price? I can't seem to find them online? I'm sure I got them as closeouts at newenough?

Held are probably the best. Summer or winter?

I trust Ride magazine's reviews and they list these, amongst others:

Winter:
Richa Arctic
Richa Street Touring
Held Twin

All season:
Richa Hurricane
Held Revel

Track/ summer:
RST Tractech Evo
Racer high Speed
Richa Tiran
Knox Handroid

I’m such a big fan of Held gloves.   I’ve had Dainese and Revit but Held is the best.

I’ve got at least four pairs of Helds now.  Warm and Dry, a short pair from years ago when they were still using stingray leather, two pairs of Titans.   The Titans are like putting your hands in a bank vault.   :bigok:

My buddy Flip likes the Racer gloves, has had a couple of pairs now.

Stick with Held ya cheap bastidge.  ;)

I have the air and dry going on 4 years and they are holding up well, compared to a $40 pair of JR gloves that were shot after 1 year.

Held are the best tm

I couldn't bare to let mine go when I got a hole in the finger tips, so I had my seamstress sew on a little patch. It held up for years!

I have never had Held gloves so i cannot comment on how great they are. I have been wearing these for many years and have been comfy right out of the box and are holding up very well.

Are the knuckle vents closable? Seems they would defeat waterproofness  if they don’t.

They are not being advertised as waterproof. No they do not close. I have waterproof covers or a second set of gloves for when it is raining.
