What's that engine in?  Cases split?

Working on an old cutting board.

Pure Chinesium 125 engine off a CT70 clone.  Waiting on a magneto wheel puller as I could not beat the wheel off... Think this may be heading toward a replacement assembly.  Going to split the cases and see what the heck happened to the start gear.

Yep I have set the limit at $100.00 for parts, if over I will have a parts engine.  You know so you have spares for the things that never break!

I understand the cost limit, and the good thing is they made about a bazillion of that engine. Parts should be cheap if you are willing to shop used.

Was someone just a bit tooo heavy on the kick start? or just made out of chinesium.

If you are really into saving a dime, I bet it could be straightened, once it is out, using a press and some time.

You could probably machine some splines into a piece of rebar and have a higher quality part.
If it weren't for the therapeutic properties of the occasional off-camber decreasing radius downhill right-hander I'd almost certainly go completely sane.

Gear on the other end was locking up somehow.  Even the electric starter went clunk and stopped.

Should find out next week after I get a puller to finish my exploration into the case.

Rebar would probably be better steel.  But have to machine some gears on the other end. Bet I could straighten in a vice and re-heat treat with a torch.  Used to do that on my Harley.  Quench in oil not water.

Water made it brake like glass....

Which or what size puller do you need?  Asking because I have a drawer full from working for a shop.

This is the one I have ordered.  Threads measured slightly more than 27mm.  Hopefully this is right, really needed a thread mic not a dial caliper.  Was going to make my own but purchasing a 27mm nut is about $6 to $8.00.

So long and short could be it, may be 26mm or 28mm.

My junk drawer has 10,000 fastenings that fit nothing I am working on.

Thank you for the offer.  If this goes south I will probably be heading to Trail Buddy up around Grand Rapids, I think.  They have a direct replacement engine on the shelf for a fair price.

I’ll check the big box after the sun comes up and the coffee kicks in, but pretty sure that’s in the collection.  I worked on several old small Honda engines.  Where in general in Ohio?  For the record, my White Lake is the one north of Ann Arbor, not the other near GR.

Went rummaging.  All my pullers around that size are the inside thread version vs your outside thread one.  My outside thread ones are all in excess of 30mm and work on ATVs and SxS stuff.  I seem to be shy a few also.  Bet the boys at the last shop borrowed a few without telling me.

Well new engine on the way.  Pricing was favorable and is an easy solution to be up and running.  Plug and play.

Also because I am stubborn, waiting on parts and seals to fix the original engine.  Looks like parts may be weeks or months, the Asian engine world is a little different.

As is the Russian parts world. Ordered on 11/25, in customs limbo since 12/29.

I am close to Heindl.  Jon usually has it all in stock.  Not sure what you are waiting on but worth a call.

I have bought several things from Heildl. His shipping is fair. If I were to buy a bike from home I'd rent a truck.

Continuing the saga.  New engine installed just need 1 exhaust port cover.  Ran out nice.

Parts coming from DRATV may fit, will see in a few days.  I will either have a spare engine ready to swap or even more boxes of parts.

Beatrice Cycle DRATV seems a nice place for china parts, lots of pictures and responsive owner.

Why I own this thing I have no idea.  Probably has something to do with not being able as a kid.

As you can now see, them engines are stupid simple.  Next time you need parts, check eBay.  I used to use them with customer's consent for the old Honda Spree scooter parts.  Virtually identical aka pattern parts and new versus buying used and praying.  A complete new top end for the Elite was about $75 IIRC.  A new Chinese carb was $45.

But I like the Dr.

Seriously looked on E-Bay but was having trouble even figuring out what engine I actually had.  Pitster, GPX seems to have used a clone of a clone to clone a clone.

Should have just bought a generic Lifan but ended up with a take off from a Skyteam that is a clone of the Pitster but no longer imported.  It was plug and play and had the same undermount electric starter.  May be a Loncin, still not sure.

I can see if the parts do not fit, I may need a sturdy box due to the speed of loading.
