Remember the "keep all the crap for me" uncle I have? Funny story:
We have been hauling old farm equipment away to the metal recycler lately. 25,000 lbs is the tally so far. Sad part: about half of the equipment we are hauling was good and functional when parked, but now 15-20 years later it's shot.

Anyway, there are still some things my uncle won't part with. Some old equipment he says "Well, that would like nice as a lawn ornament in someone's yard", or "I still have the tractor that cultivator fits on (nevermind it's rusting away in the barn)". I did convince him to at least pull all the old stuff out of the dirt and weeds and line it up in an easy to get at spot. My brother was getting frustrated until I told him "Don't worry about it. We are just getting it into and easy to access spot so that when he dies in a few years we can easily scrap or sell it then!" He laughed and agreed.

Truth be told, some of it *is* worth more than scrap, but he will never sell it. Once he dies my brother and I will pull it out and scrap it for 50% of the take- however we will sell some of the worthwhile goods. So sad...
