Not pretty, but with .223 over 12ga it makes a great coyote/fox gun when calling.

Picked up this Kahr P380 for my CCW. It'll take up no more room in a cargo shorts pocket or my tankbag than a smartphone. It has an excellent double-action trigger. Heavy, but very, very smooth. Waiting on a Talon pocket holster and a Crimson Laserguard for it.

How the heck did you get a CCW?
You may find yourself living in a shotgun shack  -You may find yourself in another part of the world
You may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile- You may find yourself in a beautiful house with a beautiful wife-
You may ask yourself, well, how did I get here?

How the heck did you get a CCW?

We finally have a county sheriff that upholds and believes in the 2nd Amendment. It was one of his campaign promises back during the economic downturn, when the department was forced to make deep cuts to the force. He said people are going to need to be more self-sufficient about personal protection and that part of the solution would be to loosen up the CCW restrictions. The city and county councils went ape-shit, but he told them to stuff it. Since then, we've become nearly a "Shall Issue" county. It's taking about 4 - 6 weeks for all of the paperwork to clear, but the approval rate is something in the mid-90's. You basically have to be a dumb-ass thug or complete knucklehead to not be able to pass the exams, interviews and training. Which, of course, is the idea.

I don't plan on carrying all that much, anyways. Never felt the need, but it's nice to finally have that option.

I'm glad I live where I do, a permit here is a matter of $12 and show them your drivers license. Permit shows up in your mailbox 3 weeks later.

In Mass. we (now) have to take a course - $100.00, fill out an application -$100, wait a minimum of 5 weeks. IF the licensing authority approves, you will be issued a LTC.

A DWI 20 years ago will disqualify you. Among many other things.

Sometimes I want to move to Texas.

Certain things in Texas can disqualify you for years.  It is one of the easier states but not as easy as 12 dollars and a 3 week wait lol.

It took me months to get mine in the mail even as active duty military.  The background check was probably more indepth than the one I got to join the military.

If you aren't military It's going to cost you a few hundred dollars to get one.  140 for an initial issue CHL.  70 dollars for renewal.  Current and former military are free.  Then a training class which will cost you between 1 and 200 dollars.

I compare my CHL background check to any of my federal Secret Clearance checks. About the same time and effort.

Ah, that would be a Vierling.

20ga, two 8x57 barrels, and I'm betting the euro designation for the .22 Hornet on top.
