I sure wish we could own suppressors in CA. I'd have one on every hunting rifle I own.

I got to shoot my buddy's new JP Rifles AR-10. Outfitted with a 5x20 Vortex scope. The damn thing tops out around 12lbs fully loaded. Definitely NOT a field gun.

Using Federal 168gr Gold Match ammo, keeping 5 rounds inside an inch at 100yds was child's play.  8)

Sighting in the Savage on the bench behind?
So what is the prognosis?
Like it - love it - Meh?
You may find yourself living in a shotgun shack  -You may find yourself in another part of the world
You may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile- You may find yourself in a beautiful house with a beautiful wife-
You may ask yourself, well, how did I get here?

Yup. I was experimenting with a few brands of 17 HMR. CCI, Hornady, Federal, and Remington. The CCI stuff shot the best. 5 shot groups were around an inch with the others a bit more open. We had some light gusts so that might have contributed to it. That little 17 grain pill will blow all over the place with the slightest cross-breeze. But, in calm conditions, it's a laser out to just under 150 yards. No .22 LR rainbow trajectory here.

The ergonomics of the rifle are excellent. Laminated thumbhole stock with a palm-swell grip. The best factory trigger I've ever handled on a rimfire. And putting 20 rounds through in rapid-fire (for a bolt-action) hardly heated up the barrel at all.

Best $410 I've ever spent on a rimfire target rifle.

I hope to take it up around Alturas this fall to help a buddy with some prairie dog thinning exercises on their sheep ranch.  8)

I think stupidity is the only reason ;)  not to mention it looks like it was done by a 7th grader in shop class.

Never use a mill for anything you could do with a cordless drill.

OTOH, I believe that's a Hi-Point.

I wouldn't invest the time in putting one in a mill either.  In fact I don't think I would want my mill to get Hi-Point on it.
