She was taking care of her babies right on the lower right of that "y" in winery....I think she is a Brown Crested Flycatcher.  We have some flycatchers (phoebe)  nesting at our house but not this beautiful variety...

Maybe a Western Kingbird? (see Peterson Field Guide: Western Birds). She does not seem to be crested which would rule out Crested Flycatchers...

Keep those pictures coming. The west has a way of expanding your brain... as well as your horizons.

Yeah probably, however my north american field guide book only had one that looked like it had a yellow belly which is the one I listed.  No crest at all.  Here come the humingbirds.  Tell me what kind of hbirds are in the pics to follow this entry.

SO that night after the OjO CaLieNTe debacle, "Bathing with strangers as I call it" we got a room at the Taos Trail Inn. From the start it was just a weird transaction.   Another couple was there trying to get a room while the skies looked like they were going to open up on us.  The winds picked up, and the sky darkened.  I asked the couple if they had any luck getting a room and they explained that they really don't know if they are open.  They told us that no one was answering the door knocks and bells.  We finally got someone to open a door at the restaurant/brewery(which was closed on a Thursday) and he acted as if he had no clue if there were rooms available.  He told us to wait as he drove to some of the cabins and came back and said yes they had two cabins available.  He asked for our credit cards and then said he had to go to a back room to do the transfer.  (weird).  He came back and said ok sign the paper, gave us our cards back and we drove back to the cabin.  We unloaded and then drove back to the mineral springs down the road and had dinner and sat out by the fire, talking to other visitors.  We decided to go back to our room about 9:30 pm.

My wife got real quiet.  She would not tell me what was wrong.  I asked if she wanted to sleep in the back room instead of the front room so it would be farther away from the main road that we were on.  She simply looked at me with fear in her eyes and said "NO and I don't want to talk about it.  She slept with her back to me and kept the lights on.  In the morning I got up and made us coffee took a long hot shower to get residual clay out of my nether regions and started packing.  As I was coming back inside, she met me and said that the house is "haunted."  I laughed and said Oh yeah? Ok.  She kept it up about the back room and how she got an incredible feeling of fear and like something did not want us there.  She has never felt that way before and really does't believe in the supernatural but that is what she said she felt.

Here is the cabin.  Shhhh don't talk about it out loud...

SO we got out of there and headed to Chris White's estate to pick up the BMW 1200 GSA...visitors can't see pics , please register or login

My wife followed behind me while we made it to Abiquiu Lake (where we would be tent camping for two nights) and parked the car got suited up. As I waited for her to get ready I took some pics of the locals in the area....

Chris White is a New Mexican resident who is a city planner (I am guessing for the city of Abiquiu?) and also happens to be the owner and operator of a motorcycle and mountain bike rental business with a fleet of BMWs to rent.  The transaction was seamless.  We reserved the bike back in May and kept open communications with him during that month.  He takes a $50.00 per day deposit and when we arrived he had an 800 Gs and the GSA waiting for us.  We chose the GSA.  He took the time to sit with us on his outdoor leather couches to review maps and answer every question we had.  He provided the panniers and top case, safety gear, maps of NM and overall just was available to us with his provided cell phone number.  he explained to us two route options.

North east option:  Up over 10500' elevation.  UP route 84 N (Incredible scenery that I was blown away by in '08 when I was there) up across 64 and down to the Rio Grande gorge bridge and then instead of crossing the bridge take a road called rim road across the desert to Rt. 111 through incredible 35 mph twists with sights that were awesome.  Here are some pics of that ride.

Here are some of the last pics of the first night tent camping at the wonderful world of enchanting Abiquiu Lake.

This is the same exact campsite I had in 2008.  We scored it again..visitors can't see pics , please register or login
