Decent DS mirrors
« on: July 12, 2016, 09:56:19 PM »
On my XR650 I've got some crappy Chinese knockoffs.  As soon as I hit big bumps or the highway and bump up to 75 they fold in, or the mirror twists, or something.  Basically, they suck.  When you tighten them down the crappy ball mount bends, and it gets worse.

Anybody have something to recommend?  The stockers are long gone thanks to the first own who ran it on a farm- with no mirrors.

IMO, the best dual sport mirrors by far are the Doubletake mirrors.     They are not cheap, but they are worth the price if you want something more than a piece of hardware on your handlebar to make your bike street legal.

I have them on both of my dual sport bikes and have used them for thousands of off-road miles as well as numerous crash tests.   They are very adjustable and actually work quite well to see what is behind you on the street or trail.

I would go with the Enduro model on the XR.    It gives you a bigger view and also folds out of the way nicely if you are ever in the tight woods.

I have the Doubletakes as well.  They aren't clear at all on the KLR but the KLR is a buzzy piece of shit.
