Official license in the early 80's. Only in the last 3 years or so have I really paid much attention to skills improvement.

Didn't get road license until 2008, but road dirty and illegally since 1990.

Was riding for years without license (had a drivers license but no M1)
Think I got my M1 endorsement when I was 18 or 19 (29 or 30 years ago)

Someday I hope to be a proficient MC rider, I'll just keep working at it till then

21 years licensed here.  I got the basics down in my teens and luck carried me for the first 12 years or so  8). Since then luck has still been on my side, but I'm pretty happy with my progress on paved surfaces.  As the years go by, I find applying new/improved skills more rewarding then pushing an unknown limit with blind effort.  No need to "keep up" or "drop" other riders.  Off road I'm still have many new skills to apply and the more rapid improvements in my riding keep me very excited for the next ride.

1979.

Have learned a lot and keep learning. Re-learning a lot by constant practice and review of why you should do things a certain way.

I did some riding in 1969-70 with a M2 license to ride a moped.  Then didn't ride until 1984 when I got my M1 endorsement.

I'm sure we all thought we were hot shit when we were 18.

30 years riding and some decent schoolin' taught me I didn't know squat back then.

Last thing I want to do now is wrap myself around a tree or take a nap under truck wheels trying to prove something.

I got my motorcycle only (100cc or less) license early in 1972 at age 15. I turned 16 at the tail end of 1972, I upgraded to the full license in 1973 and jumped up to a 550cc big bike after having a year of riding under my belt. Seems like yesterday.  :)

Every time I get on the bike I think about how this could be my last ride.  It's a humbling sport.  But, the rewards well outweigh the risk.  That's why we ride, yes?   :D

Got a learner license in the early 70s but didn't get my full license until 1980. I kept failing the test.
