2016 West Coast Regional Fortuna
« on: January 18, 2016, 11:31:23 AM »
Hello all,

This year's WCRM spring meetup will be held in Beautiful Downtown Fortuna, Californa!

When? May 20 to 22

Please use this thread to confirm your attendance.

So far, we have set up a block on rooms at the Super 8. When I arranged the block, there were 19 rooms available, I know at least 2 have been booked so far. if the block runs out, we have also been offered a deal at the newarby Comfort Inn. Both are on Riverwalk near to the Eel River Brewing Company brewpub.

Book your room by phone with the following information:

tel: 707-725-2888
Promocode: Sport Touring West Coast Regional Meet
Rate: 99.99/night

If you encounter any problems, please IM me here, and I will look into it. If we run out of rooms, I will get back in touch with Super 8/Comfort Inn to see about blocking rooms there. Do note the room price at Comfort Inn is quite a bit higher starting at $125 single king and $135 two queen. So, if you want the best rate, BOOK NOW!

Once you have booked, add your name by posting to this thread.

Looking forward to a fun weekend come May 20th!

It would seem most are intent on ripping it up in the hills on Saturday.

I meant that no one has posted here with an intent to ride to the WCRM. I didn't mean to reference the Sacramento Mile at all. In the other place I posted that me and two buddies are coming to the WCRM and skipping the Sacramento Mile.

Today, with help, I found that the Fontana topic was here too. I always thought that there was a large number of STN expatriates here.  Guess not, or at least not in the western part of the county. I have only been on this rallie once, and it is worth it to go again.

Ruh-roh. Looks like El Nino has caused some damage to state highway 3 north of Weaverville....

http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-state-highway-northern-california-storms-20160316-story.html

Nobody is going anywhere on 3 right now....
Quote
A stretch of pavement several car-lengths long was washed away on California 3 north of Weaverville along with the hillside that supported it between Monday night and Tuesday morning, photos posted on Caltrans' Facebook page showed. The area, along with most of the northern portion of California, has been soaked by a series of storms since the beginning of the month.

36 did not escape unscathed either...

Farther south, California 36 east of Forest Glen was closed because of a mud and rock slide, Caltrans said.

Not surprising to many of us...

Along the state's northern coast, it seems as if it has never stopped raining, Lewis said, pointing out that on only three days this month — March 3, 7 and 15 — has it not rained in Eureka.

Luckily, 101 is still ok, I believe. Although Rain, rain and more rain isn't good.

Highway 3 is back open, there is a dirt road drive around that CDOT reserves the right to close at their discretion.  Local CHP says 4 wheel drive recommended, I take that to mean just don't try to pull wheelies as it's kinda muddy.
