I had occasional issues on my CBR as well. the best solution I found was situps, 50 a day, sounds crazy but it worked.

In other words, increased core strength made you use your torso to keep you upright, instead of leaning on your hands? Being light on the bars is rather key....

I also already use Techspec grips on the tank to support as much weight as possible with my lower body.

I use a similar product, but sometimes I catch myself holding on to the grips to hard anyway, which is why I sometimes get numb hands

A good Chiropractor is always worth a shot too. I have had success Chiropractic treatment.

I would modify that by suggesting a good DO. Chiros only have one tool in their box so everything is an adjustment. In my case it could have paralyzed me. A DO is an MD with the additional Chiro training so he can use adjustments as one part but it's not the default.

What he said.

Numbness in the hands can come from several sources, so it's a good idea to get a medical eval along with a structural exam.  DO's have more subtle ways of doing adjustments.  Many don't involve cracking the spine.  Of course, I'm not biased...

I stay away from Chiros that use cracking at their method.

Here is one of the ways I have decided to deal with the numbness.  This model and especially this paint scheme has always been one of my favorites from BMW.

Good on you for finding a solution.

I'm probably going to need surgery on my throttle hand.  Stupid 15 yr old me!!!! :P

My left hand is fecked with nerve damage.

Mind you, it was all my own fault.

2 ½ years ago I was diagnosed with bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome.  Too many years at the keyboard with bad posture, most likely.  Did the full nerve conductivity test to make sure it really was, and wasn't sourced elsewhere like spine or shoulder as others have mentioned.  Apparently the nerves in my wrist were so pinched only 20 to 30% of the signal was getting through, and very delayed at that.  Can't remember the time delay, but it was significant, like 2 or 3 times the normal propagation time.

Tried physical therapy.  Helped very little.

Ended up going for the release surgery.  Both hands.  They do one hand, let you recover for a few weeks, then the other hand.

Relief was _immediate_.  I mean, I noticed in the recovery room as I came round - that immediate.  It was bliss.

Faithfully did PT to recuperate and it was very helpful - regained all my grip strength.  And riding became a joy again.

My advice:  go find a very good doctor and get your hands tested.  If it is CTS, seriously consider the surgery if your doctor says you're a good candidate.

I have already met with a Cleveland Clinic surgeon.  Physical exam shows carpal tunnel syndrome and ulnar nerve entrapment.

I am having the nerve testing done in a few weeks.  I really hope surgery will solve this.

I'm dealing with the same issues.  In fact, nerve conduction test is scheduled for this coming Monday.  We'll see how it goes.

I have not been able to ride much lately because my hands feel like they are on fire 10 miles into a ride on the Daytona, and that is with consciously taking as much weight off of my wrists as possible.  I've been tracking my sleep patterns also using a FitBit watch.  My sleep is usually interrupted 15/20 times a night due to painful tingling of my hands and arms, causing me to lose around 40-45 min. of sleep each night.  The tips of my index, middle, and ring fingers on both hands are constantly numb.

Am anxious to see the results of the test, find a solution and get back to normal life soon.
