In case this opportunity gels.....
« on: October 01, 2015, 08:43:33 PM »
In three weeks I might get a chance to go down to Birmingham. The kid has business down there and I might tag along and swing by Barber.  So any good places to stay (mom and pop preferred )  that is close to that and also to Motus? Won't have a whole lot of time, but some is better than none.

i stayed at La Quinta just south of the track. There are 2 ways there, the expressway and the back road. Expressway out and backroad back. If you're going to the races, sit in the rocks above the back curve, bring hearing protection.

All I know.

Thanks Larry. How did you like the La Quinta?

The last three times I've been there....not race weekends....I've Price-lined a hotel room.  Each time I've ended up at the Hyatt Place Inn, on 280, for 60.00 a night.  GREAT hotel with full breakfast and right across the road from The Superior Grill, which has some of the best Mexican food found anywhere outside Mexico and the SW.  Really anywhere along the 280 corridor, south of 459 gives you easy backroads access to the track and plenty of options for hotels and food.

It gelled. I am going.  :chili: :wings: Anyone going to the Motus block party on Saturday?
Best parts: Vintage days at Barber, and hotels cost me $0. I'm just tagging along on a business trip!
