How were they on Tuesday?

They were tired and stressed from all their meetings today!

Voltmeter question

Sssooooo I replaced my R/R tonight and took it for a test ride. The results are not good. Now my voltmeter is reading 11.7 at a stop with it never rising above 12.3. Not at 5k, not at 6500, not at 9k...engine at regular temp. No other issues except this!! Ugh! I'm so frustrated with this bike but I love it sooooo much!!

When you say the battery was fully charged, what was the reading?

Have you had the battery(s) load tested?  That 13.2 could just be a surface charge.  As soon as they're tasked with a load, they can drop dramatically on a bad battery.

IMHO any 12V battery that doesn't show at least 12.5 volts 24 hours after a full charge is weak.

Low charge voltage is often a sign of a bad stator. As the windings deteriorate the voltage will drop, and the current will increase. The increased current is what destroys R/Rs.

The next hing to check after battery condition is ALL the charging system connections. Bad connections can have you chasing your tail. By check I mean actually check the electrical integrity of the connections not just visually inspect. They can look fine.

6th gen VFRs are known to be hard on stators. When in doubt replace.

I plan on going back through all the electronics and connections again this week. I ordered a new stator for a) peace of mind and b) because I know there is a high probability I will need one eventually. I really hope I can resolve this soon, I really hate driving to work everyday. It could be worse though, considering I'm only 5 miles away.

The man knows of what he speaks. Every winter I disconnect and clean every connection on mine. I've never had a electrical problem. Ever.

I've had 2 aftermarket stators fail within 1 year. put the stocker back in and running fine at 303,000 miles. The FJR runs at 13.9 cold and 13.7/13.8 hot.

Stress tested it today. Ran the heated gloves at full and the jacket at just under full and never dropped below 13.2v.
