Nothing wrong with a good quality Waiter's friend. I have one that belonged to my great uncle Amadeo di Marco who worked at the Savoy.

I have a couple in the kitchen drawer, liberated from a local pub I believe. Always worked just fine for me, I see no reason for anything else?

of course drinking beer is a better option IMO ;)

Holy Rube Goldberg! At $140K it makes the $150 waiter's friend look like a bargain, although I doubt Damon Hill would be interested in seeing me open a bottle of wine with a waiter's friend.
Insert clever witticism here.

I bought a double hinged waiter's friend. Pulltex (Spanish made). Cost about $5 of your money.

That will be totally effective at removing the bark wad between you and the wine.
If it weren't for the therapeutic properties of the occasional off-camber decreasing radius downhill right-hander I'd almost certainly go completely sane.

I've noticed.

So long as the corkscrew is neither Democrat or Republican though, it's ok.

When I'm stuck without a corkscrew I just shove the cork down into the bottle.
