After owning the same bike for 15 years I think I'm finally going to be able to purchase something new... something I've wanted since it came out. Had to continue to put it on the back burner after getting a house, having a kid, having 2 more kids, and then getting yet a bigger house. I'm hoping to be able to do the deal in April or May.
After weighing all the pro & cons - the FJR1300 is the one for me (mind is made up). Yes - I want it NEW. This summer I'm going to be 40 and its my gift to myself - no compromises. I can take or leave the new ES model - it'll depend how the numbers work out.
Since I last purchased a bike things have changed - a LOT. My Bandit was purchased from the original Banzai dealer in Libertyville before they were sold off to the jag bags that sucked something awful. Since many dealers closed their doors in the area (many were crap anyway) the choices are few and far between.
Nielsen Enterprises is super close to me and they would be my automatic first stop - but I wanted to know if going a bit further out of my way to some place else is worth my time. I get a decent vibe when I'm in there for parts and accessories but I'm not sure how their deals are since I've never done one. I prefer to support my local dealer if I can, but if I can save a significant amount by going a little out of my way I will.
I'm aware of D&H cycle down in AL - but that whole plan of buy and ride probably isn't in the cards (might get the YES warranty there tho).
Any suggestions or feedback from some of the local dealers would be appreciated.
Thanks...
Matt
