Um... Brrrrr?
« on: Yesterday at 06:40:56 PM »
Yes Boston, I know...

However, it's chilly down here.  Lost power last night due to high winds.  Luckily it came back on before it got really cold.  It was 54 when I got up at midnight something to turn off all the stuff that was on when it went off at 7:30 or so.  Brrrr.

Feels like I've been here before, fuzzy then but still so obscure........

Maybe you had too much too fast.

I would have to start burning furniture in the middle of the bedroom to get it up to 72. Furnace going full-time to maintain mid-sixties.

We went out for a late breakfast this morning and the temp was -17 (F) at 11:00 AM. Made it all the way up to +7 but we're back on the wrong side of 0 now.

Who requested this weather, anyway?

Sure it is. The window is usually open too. I wear a wool hat and sleep with 30 lbs of blankets. Like a rock. The rest of the house is upper 60s. You know, the Hearthstone.

mdsolar writes

Pilgrim Power Plant in Plymouth was taken offline in anticipation of the weekend snowstorm. According to a statement from Entergy, the owner of Pilgrim, the plant was taken off line in preparation of "a potential loss of offsite power or the grid's inability to accept the power Pilgrim generates." This is the second time this season the plant has been shut down due to storm conditions. On January 27 the facility was taken offline after the two main power transmission lines were knocked out by blizzard conditions. Although the transmission lines were restored within a few days, the plant remained offline until February 7 at which time it was reconnected to the grid.

The rest of our house is probably in the upper 50's.  It helps keep visitors away.   ;D

-2* F this morning when I took the Husky on his morning walk. I got one of those "eating your ice cream too fast" headaches about 1/2 way around the block. Heat pump is useless as the electric  backup transfers $ into heat. I'd really like to convert to gas.

We close the bedroom door and open the door to the deck down into the teens (if it's not blowing rain or snow).  The bedroom is often in the low 40's by morning.  That's why I shower in the evening rather than the morning BUT the sleeping is so much better.

We went to oil fired furnace from heat(less) pump.  When the hot water tank went up, we put in a tankiless oil fired whole house water heater.  So much better.  Never runs out of hot water (unless you run out of heating oil).

Our whole house is baseboard electric.  That's still WAY cheaper than heating oil around these parts.
