Daytona 200 condrum?
« on: February 13, 2015, 07:45:06 PM »
If you're headed to the bleakness that is Daytona, FL, for the big formerly big 200 mile race that leans so heavily on the past, what are you expecting to see?

I, for one, look forward to a repeat of the kerfuffle between the AMA, then heavily sponsored by Camel, come to loggerheads with Kenny Roberts Marlboro team's refusal to have their team's bikes adorned with Camel AMA tech stickers.

I know it's a small thing, but in Feb you make up shit when you can.

So let's get to it.

Where's the umbrage?

Here's how you fake umbrage and have fun at the Daytona 200. Spot a couple of people sitting alone in a sea of thousands of empty seats. Walk up, look down at the tickets in your hand, then say, "Excuse me. I think you're in our seats."

That never gets old.

Let's face it, 1% of the people at Bike Week will go to the 200 this year. Maybe. At least some folks will show up for Supercross. I suspect this is the year the flat-track races get more fans than the 200.

Since it went from 1000s to 600s and is now basically a local Club Race, perhaps they'll be racing Ninja 300s.

You know, for safety.
