ford mustang forum?
« on: January 03, 2015, 12:11:17 PM »
Hey ya all,

My wife and I want to do something for her dad (USAF Disabled Vet). We would like to build, restore, buy, etc... 1965, 66, or 67 Mustang for him. Since I am not a Ford guy, I have no idea what the best forums are, to get the needed info. I really don't want to just start registering at a bunch of forums only to find out a few of those are just a collection of chest thumpers, brand trashers, etc.

Any ideas? or links?

He used to have a white w/ red interior Mustang of that era but thanks to the military, had to sell it off. We would like to give back to him for all he did for our country and us.

Thanks in advance.

That's pretty much every vehicle specific forum.

true, but some forum Mods are better at keeping it to certain threads, or at least keeping in control of it. Esportbike USED to be a good one to go to for info and then, it seemed like every thread had some kind of bashing, in some form or another. basically made the forum useless. haven't been back since. I actually visit here for SS info than some of my other sites because it is a more mature group and very helpful.

60s Stangs are pretty simple just like their Camaro/Nova, and Dart/Cuda competitors. You can buy pretty much any part you may need from a variety of aftermarket suppliers. If you're doing a daily driver it's much cheaper than doing a concourse resto. The important thing to look at in an old Stang is the integrity of the cowl, and the torque boxes. Those can be replaced, but it's better to start with one that isn't a rust bucket.

Can't you build a new 65 mustang w/ parts from yearone these days?  Don't know about forums but you'll need good parts suppliers.  Tell Chip Foose about it.  Maybe he'll build you one.  :)

Noble cause, btw.

Thanks.

True, but I'm not going original. I guess they call it resto-mod since I'm going with more modern drivetrain than 1960's.
Dealt with Year One a lot back in the day when I had a bunch of ole Mopars. sadly, they are all gone (Thanks F'in Ex).

Someday, I'll build another old MOPAR, but for now, I'll take care of relation first. After we get his done, it's onto the wife's (or mine if money allows)
