removing old/ stuck gaskets

Anybody else got any tips? Me, I soak the old gasket with penetrating oil and use a sharp blade-work knife or some such-to get the old gasket off.

Permatex gasket remover. Let it soak. Scrape it.

An angle grinder with a wire wheel.

Use with an air angle die grinder and never touch a razor blade to gasket again.  Use sparingly and lightly on mating surfaces.

Belt sander. Fine grit.

Sent from the Moto X. A wicked awesome phone.

Feels like I've been here before, fuzzy then but still so obscure........

exactly what I used.

Works great doesn't it? Just gotta be careful if using a fresh blade on aluminum. I keep a slightly dull one around just for that.

My technique.  However I find this fascinating and will try it the next time:
