PDM60 Fuseblock - Worth the price?

I think I recall Chornbe getting one of these devices. Is it worth the steep price? I am getting to the point in life where ease of install and less pissing around is almost as valuable as my hard earned cash, so I am considering the quite steep price for this solid state unit, instead of dealing with fuses and such. I have looked at Eastern Beaver and also Fuzeblock FZ1.

The PDM60 is 200 up here in Canada, in case anyone was wondering if capitalism is dead...

I just installed one on my new S1000R.  The install is simple, and the flexibility is amazing.  That said, I never had any problems with the old-style fuse blocks I had installed in my last three bikes...  So, is it worth the money?  Ask me when a circuit is triggered and I don't have to access anything to reset it- just shut the bike off and restart it 35 seconds later.

Definitely worth it if you have to deal with a canbus system. If you are not canbus, and like to do things the right way with relays and fuses, cutting into your bike's electrical system, and enjoy making and mounting harnesses and components, then no. If you are not canbus and want an easy way to install and control multiple circuits, yes.

Looks nice but you need to splice their wires into your accessories.
So instead of having neat connections in a fuse box, you have splices or taps around the bike.
With some accessories, it will work out fine but others, you'll need to cut their harness.
I've used an Eastern Beaver PC8 with their relay kit on two bikes without issues. On the plus side, the PC8 and FZ-1 have both power and ground distribution all neatly tucked in one area.

Canbus on the other hand can be a pain...

Not worth it in my mind.  I have the old reliable Eastern Beaver fuse block.  I haven't had to look at the thing since installing it many years ago, aside form adding new circuits.

I think the main reason people have so many issues with fuse blocks is because they don't have the most basic electrical knowledge and can't do basic addition.

Are you referring to connecting to the leads that come off the PDM60? You could just make a connector for your accessories.

I'm happy with my FZ-1. So far I'm only running GPS off of the always on side and heated grips off of the switched side. Very easy to hook up for a non sparky type like me.

Yes.  Worth Every Penny.

Fuses work, yes.  The PDM is so stinking easy it's worth the price just to reduce the need for extra relays, fuses, switches and the like.  Add a Skene IQ-175 auto-switch for foggies and you are set to rock with a minimum of wiring and work.

As long as I can afford the PDM, I'm going to use them.

You're just moving the failure point IMO. I prefer to plug the accessories directly in the power distribution box.
