We are pleased to announce the release of the firmware version 4.3 of the SMH10 and the SMH10R with major enhancements in functions such as music sharing and speed dial.

- Music Sharing: You can start sharing music with an intercom friend using Bluetooth stereo music during a two-way intercom conversation.
- Speed Dial: You can assign a desired phone number to a speed dial on the SMH10R or on PC, and quickly make a phone call by using the voice speed dial menu while the phone is paired.

You can upgrade your firmware using the new Device Manager 1.4.3 for Windows. Manager v1.9.3 for Mac OS X is available as well for Mac users.

Please be sure to register your product online in order to download the new Manager software, since free upgrade service is provided only to the registered users. For more details, please visit Sena web site at www.SenaBluetooth.com.

Also, if you already updated when this was a beta version there's no need to do anything.  It's the same version.


Sena has a really weird way of announcing firmware updates at different time for different sources (their website, Facebook, emails).  It would be nice if they could figure out how to announce things on the same day via every channel.

Agreed.  OTOH they've got nothing on Garmin in the 'update frustration' department.

True.  Your best bet with Garmin is once you have your unit on a firmware you can use.  RUN AWAY!  Turn off automatic updates in Basecamp and never return to the website.  Fixing one issue to only break 5 others is clearly not a good business model.

Just did the upgrade, didn't have any problems.  Sure, it's not much of an upgrade if you use an IPhone (Siri)…but it is nice for non-Iphone users.

The big thing with this update was music sharing between two users and speed dial.  Nothing to do with Apple at all.

If you don't have a Siri (or equivalent), then having speed dials is huge.

Sharing the music is nice...but sadly I ride alone these days...so not so much of a difference.

FWIW, Sena finally stepped up to the plate and said that sidetone support will show up in firmware V5.x. Sidetone is hearing yourself as you speak (used on telephones, for example). Details of the implementation are still unclear. That is, will it only be available with phone calls, or intercom, or full time, or phone and intercom use or...? The use with phone and intercom modes is simple: figure out whether you're shouting or not, and whether or not there's a problem with wind or bike noise. The value of full time sidetone is being able to talk with someone without having to remove your helmet (e.g., someone in a toll booth or at a gas station). Based on the comments in the three or four topics on this feature, sidetone is a big deal for all posters (well duh) and important for many posters. How the feature will be controlled, etc. remains to be seen. Sena seems to think there's some problem with external noise. Seems to me the fix is to get the mic in out of the wind.  :nuts:

Hmm.  I had sidetone when riding with Smoker a few weekends back.  Drove me bat shit insane and required a reboot to make it go away.
