Judging from my Facebook page this morning, hatred of Daylight Saving Time is pretty universal. I'm not a fan myself -- I hate getting up when it's still dark out.

How about y'alls? Anyone have a positive thing to say about DST?

I doesn't bother me one way or the other, but takes a few days getting use to it.

The only positive for me, it signifies the new riding season starts. (hopefully)

DST is just trying to maximize daylight when people can use it. If we set the clocks to be 7am (sunrise) to 7pm (sunset) at the equinox and just let it roll all year long, then we'd be burning valuable daylight at 5am when most people are sleeping.

I *like* daylight saving time. I grossly dislike changing the damn clocks twice a year and "wasting" that hour in the winter! Let's just stay on this time, all year round, please.

I live for DST.
I'm sequestered for 10 hours a day in an office with no windows.
If it wasn't for DST I'd only see daylight on weekends.
For 93 days a year I commute in the dark. It sucks.

That sounds like a bigger problem than just Standard Time.

I can empathize, though. I guess I did appreciate DST a lot more when I had an office job.

It really makes no difference to me. The shorter days suck period. Its dark in the way in to work as well as the way home. Its depressing.
DLST just confuses an already confused person.

I like working when the clock falls back.

I get an hour of double-time OT.

AND, in the spring, when the clock goes forwards, I work 11 but get paid for 12.

Meh. The clock does not change the amount of daylight or night.

As an odd aside, I lived in Phoenix working midnights for 3+ years. And my job depended on airline schedules both in and out of the state.

Move to western Indiana. Some areas don't change the clocks.

I could give a shit about the "number" of the time. DST doesn't change the amount of sunlight available, it just tries to modify how we perceive it.

Noon happens when the Sun is straight over head. Anything that tries to modify that reality seems suspicious to me.

+1 and yikes, what a logistical nightmare!

DST or Starndard, I don't care. I used to like DST becuase I could ride to later in the evening and that was a big plus when I would get home from work at 6 and wanted to go for a nice ride. The days of going for a ride after work are long gone becuase I have other obligations now.

So today I could care less which time we're in. I ride on weekends now so if it's in DLS time, I get to ride a little longer in the evenings. If we're in standard time, I get to start a little sooner.

Six of one or half dozen of the other. Same thing.

Please, somebody run for office of President with your platform being sticking with one or the other and you'd get my vote! Quit this back and forth crap.

I do dislike all the disparity it creates in the already-too-numerous timezone issues. The work I do is global these days... ugh.

This is partially true. The Navajo nation makes the switch because it's a multi-state reservation.

I've lived in Arizona since '75 so hadn't had to change until I was working in Sacramento in September of '90. Having sunset and sunrise jump so drastically is just unnatural. Pick a time zone and stick with it says me.

FWIW, today was the first day I've ridden since December that
I didn't feel like I was battling the elements. Is winter finally ending?
