So the conversion: Just a wheel swap? What else did you have to do? I would love to do that to my XR650...
These are factory DRZ400SM wheels. The KLX is actually a DRZ-S with green plastics, so the wheel hubs are the same on the S and SM. Straight swap on the wheels. I'm still using the S rotors for now till i'm sure i like it then will upgrade to the 320mm front rotor that will require a caliper relocation braket. The Rear rotor should be fine for the street but would require a caliper carrier off a RM250 to go to the SM rotor on the rear. Rear sproket is different due to smaller wheels. 15/44 on S 15/41 on SM so chain replacement was needed. I'll have to get another chain to put my 18/21 rims back on. I also need to do something about the speedometer. The drive unit is different, again due to the wheel size. I can get a unit off a SM or for a few bucks more i can get a trail tech vapor that is electronic speedo plus a tach, engine and ambient temp. I'll probably go that route. It was recommended to change the chain buffer to the SM style which has side brackets that stop the chain from hitting the wheel. Bolt holes line up the same but need a little grinding off the bottom to clear welds on the swing arm.
For you Clay, if you dont work something out with Tom I would look at these guy's.
https://motoxindustries.com/product/supermoto-conversion-kit/They have complete kits, wheels, mounted tires, rotors with relocation brakets, sprokets and chains. If i hadnt have stumbled onto the OEM wheels, I would have gone this route myself. They have probably the best pricing as well. If i remember right they had a 10% code "cyber" that was still active a month ago. Free shipping as well.
