I DID!!
I rode ALL DAY today.
Hit the road on the Ninja at dawn; 6 am
Rode south - to get a better view of the eclipse. Didn't make it to the 'path of totality', but I didn't plan to because I didn't want to deal with crazy traffic.
I rode down to Bloomington IL and checked the weather for which direction would have the clearest skies. I went SW. Ended up south of Springfield, IL. The sky was mostly clear, but the eclipse was a bit disappointing. It never got dark - barely at all. The only reason I knew it was happening was because I knew the start (and max) time. I pulled off the road, took the eclipse glasses out of the thank bag and confirmed it was starting. I kept riding south and west and checking it every so often until it was at about 66%.
I had about 15 mins of rain on the trip down. The trip back was practically perfect.
12.5 hrs. 680 miles.
