Hmm.. FJ-09 implies a sport-tourer. This could be good. Hopefully it will be followed by an XT-09 or XT900

I did a bit of digging and found...

MT-09 was trademarked in Jan '13 and the MT-09 was ridden and reviewed (by TopSpeed) in June '13.

So we should know in just a few months!!

Well there is a Tenere and a Super Tenere, so it would have to be somewhere in between. Since numbers aren't assigned, and 'super' is hard to quantify, how about the "More Than Adequate Tenere"? (MTA Ten for short.) I think that would be better than "Less Than Super Tenere."

Depending on what dealer you talk to. Some sold as they hit the floor, some sat for two years. Hope this new ST is a huge sales hit for them. I know there is a legion of "work to ride, ride to work" commuters just waiting for them.

Seriously, I hope it sells.

I see it like this... (and granted, I don't know all the ins and outs of federalizing a bike) If they sell one or they sell ten thousand, they've still spent the money, R&D, manufacturing, and the hush-money to the government to sell a bike here. Other than shipping and inventory costs, I don't see the problem with keeping a certain bike in a certain market for the three years it takes to really catch on. Or do what they did with the FJR and have limited allocations and deposit-to-lock only sales for the first year or three.

Jeez, I didn't even know there was such a thing until now. What happened? Too expensive to compete with the KLR?

Regardless, some people just don't like thumpers. My gut is that a multi-cylinder midsize would do okay. The Tiger 800 does okay, doesn't it?

I think the consensus is that the parallel twin is buzzy on-road, and not great off-road.

With the trend in "adventure" bikes, it's probably a ripe time to bring one, and at a price point that will actually move. Trying to compete with the F800GS on price will make it a non-starter. The $8k price point for something that's 800-900cc has to be met or it's a hard sell. They'd HAVE to be comfortably under the Tiger 800 and the 800GS. Have to be.

Which is my point. They sold like three of them... maybe four, and viola, went away. These days, with the ADV bike fad, they'll likely do much better. But then again, this is the land of bigger, faster, louder, so...

It's like, if the KLR had evolved. I think it would do well here now, of course, depending on the price point. Everyone will say they want one and will buy it (this applies to the new FJ09 too), and then when it shows up say, "meh, I will wait and buy one used."
