Despite my past experiences with Android, I opted to see if the grass is actually greener now than it was. I opted to not get the iPhone 5s when it became time to upgrade from my iPhone 5 and went for the sexy Sony Xperia Z1S instead. Fast, huge screen, waterproof, latest OS version, minimal skin... What's not to like?
Yes, the big screen is nice, but it's borderline too big to fit in my pocket, and NFW am I going to go the holster route. As it stands, I can carry it around in my pocket, but I have to take it out if I'm going to sit for any length of time- driving, for example. I can't fault Android for that, though. The antenna works better than my iPhone 5, too, and that is a good thing, and battery life is excellent, which hadn't been my experience with Android phones in the past- so I guess what I'm saying is the hardware is fine.
The OS, though, just isn't ready for prime time yet. So far I've only found one thing I like better about the Android OS than IOS, and that's phone number fill-in. In every other way AOS falls short of IOS. It's fiddly, hard to find the settings for different apps vs global settings, and as the OP mentioned there is software creep.
All in all, after three months with this phone I'm strongly considering giving it to my son and going back to the iPhone 5 for the duration of the contract.
