Im selling a 1975 850T3 project. It’s in need of some work for sure but will start and run. Looks good from a distance and sounds good but has some rust and dings for sure.Clear open title. Brakes do not work and it missing some parts. Located about 80 miles North of downtown Dallas. Asking $2800.

nice little project for anyone in Texas.

I'm pretty sure they were only in offered in Red or Blue in the US.

I wonder if white is a default setting if you don't select something else when you're creating an ad on CL.

Yeah, I think so too. And, I guess it's old news, but I finally went and took a look. Missing seat. Missing screen and something's broken there. Something looks wonky with the rear fender, and with some scrapes on the front right, I'm guessing it was leaning against the wall fore a while.

This might be a good pick for someone who has a learning rider. These are really solid learning bikes. Really forgiving. Good torque but no crazy revving is necessary, low seat height, just generally easy and unintimidating. That's kind of this bike's whole purpose, and that's almost throw-away money for a starting bike.

I got my Bandit and my good buddy got his FZ1 within about a month of each other. Not gonna lie- the first time we rode together we hit country roads and it was a bit crazy. We got back and decided we can never push each other like that. This commercial brought back that memory!

Don't know. I was in NW DC. I suspect they'd be easier to come by in SE but the umbrellas might be of a slightly different caliber than expected.

Though between GW and Georgetown, there's probably quite a bit of potential...usually.

A discreet Kawasaki triple centre cylinder cooling duct. Easily attached with some Meccano and cable ties.

If you know your Kawasaki triples then you’ll know that you’re unlikely to make it to the first corner before the centre cylinder goes all ‘Chernobyl’ on you. This was in fact a safety feature introduced by Kawasaki to avoid the need to wrestle their evil supermarket-trolley-inspired abominations around corners at all; not that the Kawasaki triple was ever intended to be a mainstream motorcycle.

Kawasaki Heavy Industries were originally approached by a wacky Japanese TV game show company to produce a machine that would make it almost impossible for the contestants to get from point A to point B without hilarious and painful consequences. Whilst they stuck rigidly to the design brief there was some mix-up in the production department and they were accidentally released on the unsuspecting public. Rather than admit their mistake, Kawasaki pretended that that was the way they were meant to be and went on to produce more models in an attempt to validate their story.

It is widely believed that Kawasaki were the first to combine a savage 3 cylinder 2-stroke engine with an un-braked folding bicycle frame but history indicates that the idea was first mooted as far back as the 13th century. A team of early scribes and engineers laid arguably similar designs before the infamous emperor Genghis Khan. Clumsy translations of ancient scripts from the period quote him as saying “Whoa, that’s well sick innit” which at the time was taken as a sound rejection but is now considered by some scholars as recognition of the design’s killing potential.

The first incarnation of the Kawasaki triple was the H1 500 of 1967 known as the Mach I. The Mach II KH750 came 2 years later. As wild as the original 500 was, the 750 remains the fastest and most powerful production motorcycle ever built. Owners still argue as to which of these models was responsible for killing the most people and thus deserving of the nickname ‘Widowmaker’, but the fact is, the casualty lists were so appalling from both models that governments were forced to destroy all records as the morgues struggled to cope with the daily influx of corpses. Watergate was merely a deliberate ruse to distract the public from this larger scandal whilst they cleaned up the ongoing carnage, but the damage was done, and a reputation was cemented firmly in motorcycle history.

In an attempt to clean up their act, Kawasaki built all later models without a centre piston, to both calm the brutal power delivery and finally solve the centre cylinder meltdown that plagued all the triples (except the ’76 KH500 which was actually made by Honda). Despite the fact that it’s illegal to do so without a licence, some triple owners attempt to refit a centre piston, intoxicated by the potent lure of unbridled danger. These illicit activities usually occur in the sleazier quarters of town but are seldom spoken of directly. A nod here and an occasional wink is sole language of the subversive deviants in the shadows.

Surprisingly despite the attached stigma, a vibrant Kawasaki Triples Club exists. Started in 1970 by world renowned triples expert Rock Brett, the club attracts weirdoes from the all over the world. Contrary to popular belief, you do not have to be called Malcolm, Simon or David to join but it is true that, unless persistent, Garys and Steves are generally politely steered towards the RD club. It has been suggested that Triples Cub membership attracts a ‘certain type’ but this is strongly refuted by the club, arguing that their outgoing nature and many social activities disprove this. Just like any other club there are meetings, ride-outs and rallies, where eager members compete for the Shipman Cup for the best Kawasaki triple.

After reading the full listing, I'm pretty sure "asking price" is a just a space filler. The seller recognizes that there is some value there, he just needs to find the right buyer.

$500 would be generous for a no-title bike that's sat outside just a mile or two from the ocean in 90% humidity.
