Sooooo far Central Georgia is ok....But I dont get off work till midnight and have the "ready box" in the truck.


Its supposed to get ugly before dawn.


But the wife reports she stocked up the charcoal supply, has enough steak to feed the neighborhood and the liquor cabinet is now full......I've got 20 gallons of gas in the garage for the generator so WE are in "bring it on" mode.

So far its been a non-event where I'm at in MS.  Supposed to get some more ice tonight but none is forming just yet.

It's supposed to hit us Wednesday afternoon.  Hopefully not too much ice. 

Super Target wasn't the shitshow I was hoping for this evening.  I wanted to watch people panic. :(

heard on the radio on the way in this am that there are already 5 fatalities down there somewhere.  I guess somebody's getting nailed.

It's supposed to arrive here as snow around Noon today.  The Governor has already declared a state of emergency.  I laugh a little at this coming from the north.  But, the last time we received a small amount of snow, it's nothing like the north where pretty much all primary and most secondary roads are treated.  Here, they only have the resources to treat primary (interstates and highways).  Nearly 100% of secondary and all tertiary roads can be slick as you know what.  Of course, the last event contained way more ice.  At least there's traction on pure snow.

There's plenty of traction on ice as well.  Problem is, people don't buy snow/ice tires anymore.  I can see that down south but up here if you're rocking "all-season" tires you should expect to slide off the roads and die in a ditch at some point.   :shrug:

When my grandfather lived in PA he was about the only one on the street that didn't have a winter beater.  Maybe you live in a larger city where the people expect the roads to be salted all the time?

No city here.  But they do put down quite a bit of salt. 

The upside of living where the glaciers ended at the last ice age is we have tons of rocks.  They probably spread more "anti-skid" than salt around here.  Problem is the salt washes away.  The gravel stays on the road almost year round.  The upside is you get accustomed to the bike moving around under you all the time.

The ice portion of this one missed us (Okiehoma,) we just got snow. We have had five winter storms in nine days. We normally probably don't have five all winter. So far, it's the coldest February on record. It hasn't reached 40 all month - normal high is about 52. That's about to change though, forecast is for upper 60's this weekend. Motorcycles will be put to good use...

And here I thought it was cause you folks upstate were too cheap to put binder in the asphalt.
