GoPro 3 or SENA SMH10R
« on: February 11, 2014, 07:21:10 AM »
My birthday is coming up and the wife asked me if I wanted a new GoPro 3. I do, but I also want a Bluetooth for the helmet and I don't know what to get.

My life is so difficult some days.

Sena.  It will add enjoyment to riding and simplify your life.

A GoPro will only create more heartache and work.

Bluetooth, all day long.

GoPro is neat and all, but IMO the lens is WAY too wide to actually be considered "good" video, HD quality aside. Fisheye just gives me a headache. And it also takes a LOT of the drama out of the video in the curves.

You know you can change the field of view on the 2's and 3's, right? I don't know why everyone films at the widest setting. In that mode, I agree.
Sena.

I didn't know. That's good info to have.

Also... Bluetooth. It's America's choice.

I'd say go with the Sena.  We have a gopro and it's a cool toy but not nearly as useful as having bluetooth in your helmet.  We got it for vacation and haven't used it since. so it might be for sale soon.

I use my Sena almost every time I get on my bike. I don't think I'd be able to say the same about a GoPro.

But if you commute and use your gopro daily, it could save (or even make) you thousands if something out of the ordinary happens.

I am a SHIT magnet and that's one of the reasons I wanted a camera in my truck and on the bike. I've had cars come off the highway and roll over an embankment to only stop a few feet in front of me. In fact, one of the parts from the car hit my car. Another time I had a car run a light in front of me, hit another car broadside and stop an inch from my bumper.

So... anyone want to ride with me now...?

After the shit I've been through... bring it on. Let's ride the whole damned country. Between the two of us, we'll either die before we leave the driveway, or leave a trail of smoldering wrecks and carnage in our wake. Let's do this.

If that's the case and you plan to use it on a regular basis, then definitely get the gopro and post the carnage videos here.   :o

Personally, I get more use out of my Sena than I do from my GoPro.  But it sounds like you need the GoPro!

I probably use the gopro more than the Bluetooth communications, but when you do use the Sena (or Cardo, etc) it is great to have. However, I use the Gopro off the bike too, the Sena is bike specific.

Well in that case the minute you buy it nothing will ever happen again.

I think it's the snow blower effect.

Bluetooth. I have a Sony Action Cam and a Sena. I rarely use the cam, always use the Sena.

If that were true, I would gladly buy a new snow blower every year.

I ordered the SMH10R Dual Pack on Ebay the other day for $269.00! It should be here today or tomorrow!  My buddy got it from the same seller 2 weeks ago for $279 so maybe if you wait a couple of more weeks you could get it for $10 less than I got it for...
