I've been riding the little CB-250 for miscellaneous errands, and my wife's SV650 a bit lately, and the Trophy has been sitting in the garage since I'd had it in to do brakes.

I finally got off my butt, and hopped on the Trophy yesterday. I immediately said to myself, "Wow, this is heavy." And, feeling like that about this bike just will never do. I'm lucky to live in an area where I have twists just the very moment I leave my driveway. I also work from home, so I can hop on my bike for a quick "lunch break" or sanity-check.

I did two loops of this little route, and plan to rinse and repeat this week a few times.

Lots of great turns, good variety and elevation change on this route. LEO presence is minimal-to-zero, but sometimes traffic is a consideration.

It's only a minor change, but the addition of Couser Canyon will make it much more interesting.

Only 2x today.

Miles: Trying to get that link to work. I'm familiar with Couser Canyon, but have yet to run it. Sounds like something to do this week for "lunch".

Hm. Doesn't work for me, either. Well, anyhow, do the loop counter-clockwise and continue on Lilac past West Lilac, then turn left on Couser Canyon. It's a great, technical chunk of road.

Ah. Memories.

A huge +1 for Couser Canyon. And then hang a left on 76, then a right onto Rice Canyon Road. Go up to Rainbow and have lunch. You'll know the right place when you see it.

Better yet, grab your wife and eat there on Wednesday night. It's prime rib night.

Also the traffic between Pala and Pechanga is a PITA - S16 used to be a good way to get to Temecula without going on the 15. But not any more.

He can come back down the old 395 or wind his way through Fallbrook if he didn't want to come back on 15.

The third time I rode with viffergyrl was on these roads. Her on her VFR, and me on her R1150RT. It later became a regular outing for the viffer twins. I miss those roads.

I've done that ride many years ago on my Sporty with my friends on a Dyna and a Big Dog. After we spent time at the HD Palm Desert fixing the Dyna's brake line (no front brake coming down into Palm Desert) and then putting a plug wire back on with the Big Dog on 86 we found ourselves winding our way out of Borrego Springs at dusk. In February. We split up at the 76/79 intersection and I piled on every bit of clothing I had at Lake Henshaw. And came down 76 in the dark.

I called the wife of the Big Dog owner when I got to my home in Oceanside to let her know they were on their way home. As we were talking, Bud came in the door so cold his teeth were clamped together.

It was a great ride.

Sounds like good times. About five years ago I did that ride (or a variation of it) every weekend. Life is getting in my way.

How awful for you, Rusty, that you have to suffer through such indignities as riding those roads. You can come here, to Delaware, and I'll take your place out there. I'll happily survive that torture for you. The least I can do for a wonderful lunch in Philly, after all. The very least.
