Good Afternoon,I take exception to the "Strategies for Reducing Gun Violence in the Commonwealth of Massachussetts". Obviously this is a well intentioned attempt at modifying existing gun laws in the commonwealth. However it is also obvious that the persons on this committee are not fully familiar with current firearms laws, in the commonwealth or federally.I feel a true overhaul of the firearm laws in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is in order. There are many laws on the books in MA that have been proven to be ineffective in curtailing gun violence. There is also a fair amount of conflicting statements and lack of clear definitions that allow local licensing authorities (Police Chiefs) to interpret as they see fit. Please review this summary response: http://goal.org/Documents/2014-GOAL-Report-Response.pdfAn honest discussion needs to happen here in Massachusetts about our gun laws. Constitutional rights as United States citizens are being treated as privileges and they are not synonymous.Thank you for your time.
