How do you fall off I-90???????
Call me Mel. Some years ago- never mind how long precisely- having little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me at home, I thought I would ride about a little and see the other parts of the world. It is a way I have of driving off the spleen and regulating the circulation.

While I don't know anything about this specific incident, perhaps a cager pulled out into the rider's way, forcing the rider off the road and into the median.  This is something I pay attention to when on a busy interstate.

Black Hills, I've appreciated your reports.  They confirm my belief that large crowds and heavy traffic are no good.  But it's weird this time because I'm recognizing many of these locations after taking my second trip to the area last year.

On a brighter note the flat track races were great with the exception of the supertwins main getting rained out.

I'm not bored or I'd volunteer to do this, but what I'd really like to see is a graph that compares the following

Bike
Age
Helmet
Scale of injury (1-10)
Alcohol?
Other vehicle involved?

Thanks Black Hills for confirming yet again that Sturgis is to be avoided at all costs  :baldy:

Only during the rally.  It was fun going there last year after the rally was over.

I don't need graphical analysis to support my existing confirmational bias.  Just add motorcycle type to the list.  And remember, correlation is not causation!

I wonder if a correlation can be made between crashes and the weight of the bikes involved.  My impression is that the crashes generally involve bikes over 700 lbs., and there are few--if any--under 500 lbs.

I would enjoy digging into this; even though I am not going to do it.  I'm wondering if the general topography of a rider's home region correlates with failure to negotiate a turn.

^That, and if that isn't bad enough, it's getting really stupid out there.

Not trying to threadjack - just a recent example to illustrate what's out there on the road these days.
