nor are we allowed to have our smartphones out during work hours.
Really? You can't have your phone out? How strict do folks adhere to that rule? What type of environment do you work in (sitting at a desk, standing/walking in a warehouse)?
well, I see people using em out on the factory floor, but after seeing someone getting fired for checking their texts, those other folks are on borrowed time. I just moved to another position in the company - maintenance mechanic. Loving it. It's a bit more relaxed, but with my luck.... I can't afford to have the "wrong" boss walk in on me checking my texts or whatever, and then losing my job. just not worth it.
If you're on break, different story. just to show how BS some policies are... we are not allowed to go out to our vehicles and warm em up before the end of the shift. THAT takes company time to walk out there. Remote start? the story is still out on that....

doesn't really bother me. I don't like warming up a vehicle anyways. I can do that while clearing windows
