Have a Sargent like #2 on my GS. I am very happy with it, thought it was worth the $$$. My plan was that if the Sargent didn't do the trick (which is to say, 750 mile days), I could use it while I sent my originals to Russel. I haven't felt the need for the Russel.
If you decide to go the re-make route, you might find a used and/or ripped one cheaply on ADV or Ebay, and send that to your seat maker of choice.
I found a used mint seat for my FZ6 for $25, so I had stock or Russel.
