My father was in a hospital back here in the states.  My mother was working as a nurse in a different hospital.  She did say that they did stop long enough have a celebratory drink before resuming their duties.  I know a lot of people ended up in church, and many were full all day. 

My dad was still in the Pacific,my uncle Henry had just been liberated from a pow camp 2 weeks before where he had been interned after being shot down over Germany in 1943 ,uncle Bill was still with the 3 rd army as a gunner in a tank destroyer ,his third of the war as two had been shot out from under him.
To all of the Greatest generation,  thank you.

It's hard times now folks, but happy VE Day.

A pathetic reminder of how far we’ve fallen.  Celebrating a victory over tyranny only to accept tin pot dictators saying you don’t have the right to assemble to protest, worship, etc. in the here and now.

Remember that London was getting carpet bombed.  We’re trying to slow the spread of an infection when the numbers show masks and social distancing is all that really works...not isolation at home and shutting down the economy.
