Here's a funny anecdote.  Jack Johnson owes his recording career to a bad day for the waves.  He was here in San Diego, sitting on his board waiting for some decent waves when he got to talking to another surfer also from out of town.  He told the guy he's a singer/songwriter, so the second guy says that he'd love to record a song of Johnson's.

Thanks for sharing that.  A friend of mine was in Costa Rica on a surfing trip last fall and ended up hanging out with Jack at the neighborhood bar on night.  My friends says Jack was a heck of a good guy.

Her album with the Nocturnals, "Nothing but Water," is my favorite.  Do you know how difficult it is to find a good copy to purchase?  It's not easy.  I did find a DVD audio version and do have the player for it.  But, it's $50!   :o

Electroswing. Lots and friggen LOTS of it.

Have been listening to Caravan Palace for the last few years, enjoyed the hell out of them but just recently found the 'genre name' that they were identified as (i.e. Electroswing). A quick torrent search dropped a plethora (<-- great word) of tunes/bands categorizing as such. One file held over 36hrs of individual songs (even after I purged anything over 20min long). That'll cover a long weekend!
