Good book. The followup 'Robogenesis' was a disappointment though, not as well told a story. That said, if you need a copy of 'Amped' by him, let me know. I slaved to find an e-book copy that was complete and finally succeeded.

I just finished a very quick read. Lost City of the Monkey God. Very entertaining. And in the final chapters he dives in to the speculation of why the city was deserted. Lots of discussion about old world/new world diseases. Fauci mentioned.

It's May, so now I'm reading "Us Against You." I enjoyed the twists and turns of "Beartown" and am about 1/3 of the way through this new one and am enjoying it equally, if not slightly MORE!

I'm midway through the second book of the Malazan Book Of The Fallen series, Deadhand Gates.
There are ten books in the series, and they are substantial books at that, so I have a fair bit ahead of me.

I've read a lot of fantasy over the years, and I have to say that these books rank as perhaps the most original I have ever read. It has been said (with some degree of accuracy) that all modern fantasy is derivative of Tolkien, but these books are absolutely not that at all.

The world building is stunning, the underlaying concepts are unlike any I've stumbled across, and the storytelling language is very immersive and creative while also a bit challenging.

10/10. Would recommend.

Just read Barnum. Was a tough slog not sure I wanted to know that much about Barnum.

Reading Franklin. Been hard to stay with but still holding interest.

Wish the library would open. Just can't do any more on screen reading.

Started this last night. Stumbled across it least night on the bookshelf in a book containing 4 Ludlum stories when seeking something to read while smoking a cigar with coffee.

Having watched "GRANT" on History channel earlier this week, I am now looking to read Ron Chernow's Grant biography. I requested it yesterday from the library and the bookmobile is SUPPOSED to be here on Monday, so fingers crossed it makes it onto the bookmobile before it heads out that morning.

If I don't get it Monday, I'll get it the following week...in which case, I'll read Doris Kearns Goodwin's "Leadership in Turbulent Times," which focuses on Lincoln, both Roosevelts, and LBJ.

Grant’s complete personal memoirs are available free on both Apple Books and Amazon. I’ve been reading them on and off for almost a year. Very long, much is fascinating but I’m rarely good for more than an hour or so, after which I put it away until I get the urge again.

I'm current reading "Helmet for a Pillow" by Robert Leckie. It's a WW2 memoir that, along with "With the Old Breed" are considered the most detailed and accurate sharing of events. They were also used as source material for Tom Hanks' "Pacific".

I just finished reading Not Alone: Revelation from Craig Falconer
It's book 4 in the Not Alone series. If interested, read the books in order, lots of details won't make sense if you don't.
The series has multiple level of intrigue, visitors from out there, strange devices, hoaxes and more.

I teach leadership courses, so I'm always looking for good books about leadership. A friend of mine (Justin Mears) released his first book back in October - "The Coin." It's a leadership book written as a parable. I seized the opportunity to both read the book AND write a review of it for my professional organization's magazine, Facilities Manager.
