Freaked me out last night. Come home from the gym the roads were wet from the rain. Everything was fine until I was about a mile from home.

On a back road leading to my road making a right curve suddenly my front end felt disconnected and floating for a brief moment. Startled me I thought something broke on the truck but two more curves and it felt fine so I gave it no more thought.

Turn onto my road and as I approach my house I go over a culvert and the entire truck feels like it is floating and starts to weave back and forth then catches. Holy crap!!!? Pucker.

Step on the brakes to prepare to turn into my driveway and the abs kicks in with no front end control or feel.

Wheels spin all the way up my drive. I look at the temp and sure enough it is flashing ICE ICE ICE.

My driveway was a clear sheet of ice. Looked damp.

Could have been a big issue roads looked and generally felt fine and were fine when I went to the gym but those little moments could have led to a nasty crash all in about 90 mins from when I left the temps dropped just enough.

Point is, bike or car, be careful out there a clear road may not be clear.

happens here a lot, specially after a week or so of below zero temps. the sun melts snow/ice but the ground temp freezes it as soon as the sun goes down. air temp may still be 40 but the road is slick.

We had heavy fog this morning which led to icy conditions on the roads. Haven't seen much of that before. Weird. Fogice?

Around here they call if freezing fog, I bet most people have no idea what that means and just assume it only causes frost on the car....it does a lot more than that....

Black Ice - an odd duck form the old days v. 1.0 a I recall.

I drank straight from a scotch bottle with him at meet once hoping the 90 proof would keep me safe.

Last year we seemed to have a lot of ice in Fargo.

One day I stepped out of the house and slid down the driveway, past my truck. Thankfully I stayed on my feet! I just had to hang on to the truck and drag myself back up to the driver's door.

Sure wish someone had a video camera that day!

Damnit... I hate black ice. I wrapped an F250 around a pole about 14 years ago in a parking lot one time because of black ice.

That's the way my road/driveway is. If I need 4WD to change direction, I would surely not keep the GS upright. (I am currently digging a tunnel through the drifts to the main road.)

Its been icy the last few mornings here. Warm days, moist air and them freezing over night. A couple mornings ago was real bad. Quite a few accidents in the mornings around here. I've been cautious on my drives to work. With the huge temp fluctuations probably won't be going away anytime soon.

damn straight the other morning we had a thick fog that was freezing on contact with everything. 31 degrees out. Roads, sidewalks were a skating rink.

From FOG. Hard to believe.....everything just looked wet until I got a foot down on our walkway....

No black ice today. Plenty of white fluffy ice though.
