For anyone who is interested, Tour and Ride, sort of a retail outlet for Givi USA in North Carolina, has a clearance sale on a 35 liter Kappa top case and mounting plate for $59, including shipping. Kappa is the second line of Givi, so the case won't be quite as tough and sturdy as a Givi, and there may be some hardware differences, but this looks like a heck of a deal. Kappa seems to be a product line aimed at scooters rather than motorcycles. If your on a tight budget, this will serve you well.

Be warned, they are not as weather/water proof as most of us would want. :\
