Something Chris posted on another thread got me to think that we all must have a go to place to go chill and hang out with friends.

What's yours?

For me and Sheri, we alternate between two.

Finnigan's Wake Irish Pub. I love this place, they have a whiskey list and you can even do a flight.

First Street Draught House. This is an excellent local place. It's small, has a ton of beers on tap, and has the best burgers in town.

For pedestrian outings to just grab a drink, our new fave is one of the several "Famous" taverns around. $3 for any drink. They don't serve food, but you're welcome to bring your own in, and we have.

For a little more upscale with food, it's got to be either Eclipse Bistro ( http://www.eclipsebistro.com/ ) or Jessop's Tavern in Old New Castle ( http://www.jessops-tavern.com/ ).

I only drink alcholic beverages at multiple day motorcycle meets, rallies or functions where I have a hotel room at the event.

My girlfriends and I like Whiskers Pub at the Nittany Lion Inn on campus. We usually "pre-game" there prior to dinner at Cafe Laura (the student-run restaurant, also on campus).

Another favorite spot for me and my gal pals is Mad Mex, especially on Mondays when "Big Azz" (22 oz.) margaritas are $5 all night. Those nights typically require me getting picked up at the end of the evening, LOL.

Yeah, one of the few places you can go near downtown without stepping in student vomit. I was kind of partial to Otto's, myself.

One of my favorite ballads.

My local favorite is Two Stones Pub. 25 taps that turn over often including a cask. A great staff that knows beer and food that ranges from pretty good to unusual and outstanding. The fried chicken livers with red beet ketchup are fantastic.

I really should have put 2 Stones on my list, as I love going there and will be living <5 minutes from the Naaman's Road location after I move at the end of March. Like... almost walking distance, certainly bicycle distance.

Our favorite place to walk to is Mrs. P and Me about a half mile from our place. It's an old house converted to a bar. Standard pub fare, decent prices and they offer what we refer to as The Purgatory Room. That's the back room of the house where they seat all the folks with small children. It's fantastic! If you're kid is acting up, everyone else around is either a) understanding and sympathetic or b) gloating because their kid is being good.

If we feel like going a little higher-end, we hit Sakura, which does great Japanese. It's also in walking distance, which is why we'll go there of a Friday instead of Tsukasa of Tokyo (Yoshi's place).

Spending quite a few weekends in bars for work, my favorite place is the bar in my basement. I'm hosting two rehearsals today and making stew. Plus my son gets to sit and get served kiddie cocktails.

Clean bathrooms, good selection, good people, good music, and I'm not driving. If something's amiss, nobody to blame but me. Doors always open to the ST crowd.

We haven't done that in years. We used to hang out at the Thirsty boot, in Knowlton.
It's a watering hole (dive) where we used to party at, every friday night on the way into the Eastern Townships.
All the ski bums from the area would be there. I've made great friends there.

If I stop for a drink after work it's the local biker bar. I stop Sunday afternoons on the way home from riding as well. If the wife and I go out it's the hotel bar, Minerva's, closest to home. Frequent both enough to usually have someone to talk to. Other than that an occasional beer downtown at the ale house.

home, since i don't drink. just to give you an idea.. the same 6 pk of Bud Plat is in the fridge from my Father-in-law for the past 6 months. at least. every time he comes over, he forgets he left beer here and brings more beer. On top of the fridge is an almost full bottle of Crown Royal that we've had for at least a year or two.

Track 7 Brewing Company. It opened a couple of years ago in an old warehouse about 5 minutes from my front door. Excellent beer. BYOF or visit one of the food trucks that park out front.

Many years ago I used to frequent The Dubliner on Greenville. Without a doubt, the best Guinness you will ever see poured. They also have Murphy's.

I also learned to appreciate Bushmills there. Sunday afternoons were an absolute hoot. The Dubliner had all the Euro-trash bikes and The Blue Goose across the street had the Hardley crowd. I'm very fortunate to have survived those times. Haven't been there in years.

Sadly, the scooter trash seems to have taken over.
