I'm still IN. Riding the Super Duke all weekend isn't going to be an issue. The leg is doing OK. Even a day of dirt roads (should I trailer my 530 up) would be OK. But that's only if my son Chris decides to come down on his DR650 (he is tentative at this point).

I've had a few ask about payment, PayPal works, cash works, a really good bottle of bourbon works, just please don't pay until you're sure you'll be there so we can avoid having to send refunds.

Mrs. Smoker would like to know if there are any food allergies that we need to be aware of so we can plan the menu accordingly. We are accustomed to accommodating gluten intolerance, peanut, dairy, etc. The current plan is baked oatmeal, donuts, and fresh fruit for breakfast on Saturday, and taco salad Saturday night. If there are any other requests, please let me know. Weather permitting we will have a bonfire both nights of course with hot dogs and smores.

If y'all haven't had Angel's Envy yet, it's a wonderfully smooth bourbon blend that lends itself nicely to sippin', maybe a rock, maybe a splash. It's far too good to use as a mixin' whiskey.

There should be plenty of firewood on hand but feel free to bring your scraps.

There should be plenty of firewood on hand but feel free to bring your scraps.

With knee surgery now scheduled for April 12th, I just went to about 20% possibly being there at this moment. Those odds should improve a bunch if surgery goes well and the healing is quick.

We actually have a cabin less than an hour from there, closer to Dushore. Put me down as a tent camper. If the weather is crappy that weekend, I may or may not cage it to my cabin and plan to drop by for dinner or something.

Has anyone planned an all-day dirt road route yet? If not, is anyone interested in doing an all-day dirt road ride?

I believe there are endless north/south routes between route 6 and route 120 (or I-80 farther to the south) to link together.

I managed to cobble up a 225 mile route that runs to the southwest (out toward Woodward/192). Complete guesswork on my part, just trying to string together dashed (dirt) roads in Garmin Basecamp. No idea if any of it is good. The stuff I am familiar with is farther west than you can reasonably get to from Hillsgrove.

Dunno for certain. Heading to MI right after the meet so Kim might stay home and prep for the trip. I'll probably shoot for early to mid afternoon Friday. Which means I'll probably get there around 5. $:-\$ If the UP is still under several feet of snow by the end of the week, we might bag that area and Kim and Hemi might come along. Game day decision.

The UP looks to be wet and cold for the foreseeable future.

I'm definitely out now. Since surgery deductibles are now showing up, I'm back to work on Saturday and begging for full time hours for a few weeks to get this behind me. The best part of it all? I went back to Lowes and they gave me a nice raise for coming back.

Meh, I decided to stop believing the internet and called someone who works at the visitor center near where we want to camp. She said it's all good. There's still some snow that blew in off the lake that has a couple small dirt roads closed but only a couple. I like the idea of having nobody else out so I think we're going to go for it. We have good gear and 60 lbs of propane and a rig that doesn't leak air like a screen door so I think we'll be fine. Probably not as bad as being stuck in RMNP waiting out the windstorm of the decade at 17 degrees before the wind chill.

I plan to be there mid-afternoon, Mrs. Smoker around noon. If you are having difficulties of any kind you can call the cabin and we will do our level best to get you help.

The weather will be 72* and partly sunny all weekend.

Even if it isn't, has anyone ever regretted going to any of these events?
