Just a heads up for those of you thinking about ordering from the big Red machine.

This is the second time it's happened since November. I got a refund on the first item purchased on eBay (never received) and have just requested a second from this Amazon bozo. How the hell can you screw up an address that's computer generated and all you have to do is copy it into the label? All my orders from this point on will be from North American sellers.

I purchased ONE thing from a Chinese seller on E-Bay and it will be my last. Luckily, my bit was only $5.99 and while it did eventullly show up, it took THREE months!

Forgetaboutit.

I ordered 2 bearings for the drop link for the Speedy on Tuesday through Amazon. (Triumph wanted $27.00 ea I found them for $6.00 ea. Same manufacture.) Fortunately it's coming from Oh. or Cali.
Supposed to be here by the 21st. We'll see.

The bearing houses are not what it was 10 years ago. Back in the 80s and 90s Bearing bearings was a power house in the Chicago area. They had every thing. I would get all my bearings there and they had 95% in stock. They were sold off and down sized and the last time i went there (3 years ago) it was a located in a small warehouse and half the shelves were empty. I called them to locate the bearings i needed and now they don't sell to the consumer.

I could of gone to NAPA or some other auto store but i wasn't in a hurry so i figured I'd give it a try. And like Tom (sleazy rider) i can be a cheep bastard to.

The Amazon order I mentioned was several items from various places and it was my fault for not paying attention to source. Everything else was local suppliers. Needless to say, it won't happen again. I needed some Samsung Tab cases and screen protectors, a replacement cord for our new camera and some memory cards for said camera. Some's from Oregon, some from Illinois and some from SC, along with the lone Chinese piece.

I must be extraordinarily lucky because I order a lot of
stuff directly from Chinese producers and have never
had a problem. It usually arrives in a few days.

My last domestic order of "new" was shipped used.
Now THAT never happened from China.

I've come to accept that China is the principal supplier
of non-critical OEM parts.

I've had similar experience from Chinese suppliers. And product reliability isn't their strong point.
I've ordered laptop replacement batteries. The last one I bought took six weeks to get here. The battery was fine, looked just like the original except it wouldn't charge. The supplier would replace it but I had to ship it back first. F'k it.

I now deal locally or only with North American dealers. Let them do the haggling with their suppliers in China.

I purchased one and it was my last item from a Chinese seller. It was a pair of Sidi boots, I had NO IDEA they were coming from China as the seller was in the USA. Took 6 weeks to get them, and when they arrived they looked legit. Used them a total of three times and the sole became unglued and the boots basically fell apart.

Obviously knock offs, shame on me. Buyer beware.

I bought three iphone cases from China. Forgot about them (they were only $1.50 each) and about six months later they showed up in my mail.

Hell, I've had packages postmarked at 10 PM on Christmas Eve from China arrive before the New Year.

I've ordered a few items from China and recieved them within a couple of days. Of course I check feedback when on eBay so I know what kind of service to expect. I actually read the negative feedback to see what it says. Sometimes its crybaby bs and sometimes its legit. You have to do a little research.

Typically I dont buy anything of value or something I expect excellent quality from China. There have been exceptions.

I've had stuff get here in days as well. If the seller says it may take weeks, it may take weeks.

Usually, I try to stay away from all out of country purchases, but the ones I have made from China have been correct and timely.
I'm in the cheap bastard club too.

Received the bearings today as advertised. Sealed packaging and the same bearing including the exact same markings as the old ones.

It took 10 days to get it here but i did save $30.00 over the dealer. So if time isn't a factor i would go this route again.
