Not much of a real Ride Report, but I figured it was worth sharing, anyway.
It was a great afternoon today to get out the Speed Triple and explore.
In the Ensenada area they’re building a new road, called the Libramiento. It’s going to be a great road to connect highway 1 with highway 3. When it’s complete, it will give trucks a way to get from one to the other without going through the city. And it was almost done. Almost.
Years ago, as it was nearing the 90% completion mark, a landslide happened. Not just one. More than one. And this new pristine road was no longer passable. It needs lots of engineering that was perhaps unforeseen when the road was initially built.
There’s a second half of this project that will eventually re-connect on the South side of town, but that’s years away. The Libramiento is the top yellow line. You can see just how useful this road will eventually become.
The caution signs are, yes, all in Spanish. I figure you will either get it, or have Google Translate to help if you need a translation.
