On a side note, Johan occasionally races in ChampCar.


Not taking anything away from the record cuz that was dope.  And the mid drift (snerk) refuel was very tight, literally and figuratively.  But if there is a perfect recipe for drifting, it's an M5 on a perfectly groomed, evenly moisturized, perfect circle 4 lanes wide. 

I did it in a late 90s crown vic on a circle less than 1/2 that size and width with someone else controlling the throttle.   :o

Doug, the only thing between you and you knowing how to drift is opportunity.  :) 

I'm feeling an STO drift class coming up. 

Here's a good start since you like Schurr mtn so much:  http://www.pantheratraining.com/classes/  I'm thinking evasive and defensive techniques.  :)

I catch his races on CBS Sports and cheer on the team!   They lost out in the championship race but did have a great season and won a few races.

Update on my shock, Penske is pretty sure there was a deficiency in the clevis, so they are going to warranty the failure.
I should have it back by this weekend.

Nice! 

Did you put an aftermarket Penske on it or did the bike come with a Penske?  I don't recall ever seeing a Penske shock come as OEM before.

Either way, that's good news.


Do you believe you were pushing the shocks limits or was it just an odd failure when it happened?

We're heading down this morning, hanging on the cheap in Sugar Grove. Leaving to come home Saturday as Liz has to be back for a singing gig on Sunday.

My buddy Adrian is heading down, staying at Fox's in Brandywine.

My brother is heading down, staying in Lost River.

Anyone else gonna be in the area? As you know, cell signal is ass. So far, it looks like we're all set to meet at the gas station in Brandywine tomorrow morning for a day ride, then plan further from there.

Do you believe you were pushing the shocks limits or was it just an odd failure when it happened?

Previous owner installed the Penske. He did have a slightly softer spring put on for sport touring comfort, and I'm sure he never abused the bike like I do, but it still shouldn't have failed where it did. They said this only happened one other time, and that one failed because it was maxed out on preload. I was only at 60% preload when mine broke.
