$86.95 means it's too cheap not to try.  I have another GMax and like it a lot.  So far, the brief time I've spent on the sofa wearing it while watching TV has been positive.  Snug, but the kind of snug that will likely loosen up over time vs the kind of snug that hurts.  So far so good but since it's subzero windchills, blowing snow and high wind gusts, a road test will have to wait a while.

I had a Gmax once, and I'd never buy another one.  I think that sums up my thoughts on them.  Hope yours works out for you.

protection wise I don't think there is any difference in a $50 helmet or a $500 helmet. the big difference is comfort. Once I switched to a Shoei back in the early 90's I have always preferred a bit higher dollar helmet. the cheap ones seem comfy at first but usually deteriorate fairly quickly. As usual I could be wrong :)

I've had Shoei and Arai.  I like the Gmax.  Guess I have an 85 dollar head.

There are many things I don't want said about me...

chief among them is, "But officer, I didn't even see him."

I also wear a hi viz stich and I don't much care about ugly.  If you can determine that what I'm wearing is ugly, that means you see it.
